Najprej naj na hitro osvežimo znanje. Botanični ali rastlinski izvlečki se pripravljajo na različne načine, integralni izvlečki, ki obsegajo sušenje in mletje cele rastline, pa so danes izjemno redki oz. jih težko srečate kot pripravljeno surovino za nadaljnjo uporabo. Naj povemo, da je v mešanem nasadu trajnih zelišč majhna črna gosenica našla prav njo in si jo privoščila po principu: vse ali nič. Poskušali smo s prav vsemi pripravki, ki jih sicer poznamo kot naravne insekticide (pelin, kopriva, dalmatinski bolhač itd.), na koncu smo že napol odmrle rastline reševali z roko in gostje pobirali v vedro.
