• nepravilna izbira rastline glede na topilo
• neustrezen čas nabiranja ali faza rasti
• uporaba starega, oksidiranega olja
• previsok delež rastline glede na volumen olja
• pomanjkljiva filtracija po končani maceraciji
Vizualna lepota izvlečka še ne pomeni, da je tudi funkcionalen. Na to opozarjajo tudi številni fitokemijski pregledi rastlin z vidika kozmetične uporabe, med drugim v pregledu Liu et al., 2020.
Kako izbrati pravo olje
Vsaka osnova nosi svoj profil. Olivno olje je tradicionalna izbira, vendar je lahko za občutljivo ali mastno kožo pretežko. Sončnično olje z visokim deležem linolne kisline ponuja lažjo teksturo in podporo za vnetno kožo. Uporabna so tudi olja iz slivovih jedrc, lešnikov ali maka, ki se dobro obnesejo v različnih kombinacijah. Upoštevati je potrebno tudi, da imajo hladno stisnjena visokokakovostna olja tudi svojo značilno in bolj ali manj vpadljivo aromo.

Olja, ki jih uporabimo kot osnovo
Lešnikovo olje ima suho, elegantno teksturo. Hitro se vpije in ne preglasi rastline. Odlično se obnese na obrazu, pri mešani ali občutljivi koži.
Sončnično olje je mehkejše, hranilno in zelo stabilno. Dobro prenaša tudi občutljiva koža. Uporabimo ga lahko pri maceratih za telo, zaščitnih mazilih in otroški negi.
Olivno olje ima močan značaj. Je gosto, počasi vpijajoče, a zelo obstojno. Z njim pripravljamo macerate rastlin, ki potrebujejo močnejše olje, kot je šentjanževka.
Najboljše poletne rastline za oljne izvlečke
Ognjič (Calendula officinalis)
Najboljši so posušeni jezičasti cvetni listi, brez zelenih delov. Sušenje naj bo hitro, v senci in na prepihu. Za macerat uporabimo razmerje 1:10 (10 g suhih cvetnih listov na 100 ml olja). Kozarec naj bo pokrit z gazo in postavljen na svetlo mesto. Ponoči ga zapremo, da preprečimo kondenzacijo. Maceracija traja 3–4 tedne. Olje ima pomirjujoč, regenerativen učinek, primerno je tudi za otroke.
Rman (Achillea millefolium)
Uporabimo zgornjo tretjino cvetoče rastline, najbolje sveže posušene. Razmerje z oljem naj bo 1:10. Maceriramo v sončničnem ali lešnikovem olju, na svetlem mestu, 3–4 tedne. Rmanov izvleček je primeren za kožo, nagnjeno k rdečici in nečistočam.
Smilj (Helichrysum italicum)
Sveže nabrani cvetovi so najprimernejši, saj sušenje povzroči izgubo nekaterih učinkovin. Pred maceracijo jih rahlo ovenimo. Razmerje z oljem naj bo 1:5. Kozarec hranimo na soncu 10 dni, nato še 2 tedna na sobni temperaturi. Smilj je dragocen za nego zrele in občutljive kože.
Šentjanževka (Hypericum perforatum)
Uporabimo sveže, razcvetele vršičke. Razmerje z oljem je 1:5. Kozarec naj bo sprva odprt, pod nadzorom, čez dan na soncu, ponoči zaprt. Maceriramo 4–6 tednov. Pravilno pripravljen izvleček je rdeče barve in ima izrazit regenerativen učinek.
Sivka (Lavandula angustifolia)
Uporabimo sveža socvetja ali dobro posušena. Sveža sivka je bolj aromatična, vendar zahteva več pozornosti. Ovenemo jo pred maceracijo. Razmerje naj bo 1:10. Uporabimo sončnično ali lešnikovo olje. Sivkin izvleček je pomirjujoč, blag in primeren za vsakodnevno nego.

Trpotec. Pozabljen zaveznik za pomiritev in obnovo kože
Čeprav ga pogosto povezujemo z otroškimi praskami, ima trpotec izjemen potencial tudi v kozmetični uporabi. Sveži listi vsebujejo alantoin, sluzi, flavonoide in fitosterole. Alantoin podpira celjenje in obnavljanje kože, flavonoidi prispevajo k pomiritvi in zaščiti. Fitosteroli in lipofilni flavonoidi se v olju prenesejo kot del pomiritvenega in protivnetnega učinka.
Zaradi visoke vsebnosti vode je priporočljivo, da listi pred uporabo ovenijo, nato pa macerat pripravljamo na podoben način kot pri smilju: v zaprtih kozarcih, zaščitenih pred svetlobo. Dnevno pretresanje omogoča boljši prenos učinkovin.
Recept: Oljni izvleček iz trpotca
Sestavine: • 30 g svežih listov trpotca (Plantago lanceolata ali Plantago major), rahlo ovenelih • 200 ml hladno stiskanega sončničnega ali lešnikovega olja • steriliziran kozarec s pokrovom
Postopek: Liste rahlo osušite na zraku, da zmanjšate površinsko vlago. Grobo jih narežite in v plasteh naložite v čist, suh kozarec. Prelijte z oljem, da so vsi deli popolnoma prekriti. Kozarec zaprite in pustite stati na sobni temperaturi, zaščiten pred svetlobo, 3–4 tedne. Enkrat dnevno ga pretresite. Po maceraciji precedite skozi gazo in nalijte v temno stekleničko.
Uporaba: Uporabite kot samostojen sloj po sončenju, za pomiritev po britju ali kot sestavino v domači mazilni osnovi. Izvleček je blag, primeren tudi za otroško nego.
Opomba: Za pripravo lahko uporabite ozkolistni trpotec (Plantago lanceolata) ali širokolistni trpotec (Plantago major). Obe vrsti vsebujeta alantoin, flavonoide, fitosterole in sluzi, zato imata podobno pomirjujoče, regenerativno in protivnetno delovanje. Širokolistni ima nekoliko več sluzi in deluje mehčalno, ozkolistni pa vsebuje več fenolnih spojin in je bolj raziskana vrsta v zeliščni rabi.
